By ARCHIVE NEW YORK - Inspired and designed from a photograph of a very old textile from the village of Nahuala, Guatemala, this pillow exudes bohemian charm. Intricate embroidered patterns in true to the original motif and color palettes grace the front of this cotton pillow. Finished with whimsical tasseled corners, this eye-catching textile is an artisanal work of art. Pillow is woven by female artisans in Nahuala, Guatemala.
This pillow was made in partnership with non-profit organization Maya Traditions. Maya Traditions Foundation leverages traditional Maya heritage and art, connecting female artisans with national and international markets committed to the Fair Trade Principles.
Archive NY is a Brooklyn based textile collection founded in 2014 by Amira Marion. The philosophy Is to find beautiful, rare, handmade textiles and recreate them with the artisan group who originally made them. Designs are curated to a NY market, only colors and scales are tweaked to not stray too far from the original design!
